SHAME ON EVERYONE

June 14, 2016

I have tried to stay out of the Facebook nastiness that has been going on since this horrific event in Orlando–but I really cannot take it much more. When did we as a Country decide to take tragedy and make it about ourselves or about our agenda or about our politics? When between 9/11 and today did we decide as a Nation not to unite around those affected by evil and heartache? When did we depart from being the United States to a State of Everyone for Him/Herself? I am appalled at the Republicans, the Democrats, the Independents, and everyone else who has decided to make this about something other than what it is.

I guess it was Rahm Emanuel that said we should never let a crisis go to waste–how wrong he was. That kind of talk has done nothing but divide us and pit us against each other and ourselves. When tragedy, evil, catastrophe and calamity strikes—we must exhibit grace, understanding, assistance, prayer, love and hope–that is what makes us Americans, not tribes of people trying our best to show everyone else that our tribe is best.

What happened in Orlando was awful, horrific, and tragic. It was caused by evil, nothing less, nothing else. It was not caused by gun laws or liberals or conservatives. It was caused by the radicalization of religious ideals that have so warped an individual’s sense of right and wrong that he believed what he was doing was right. The only addendum to that explanation is that it takes something more to take religious beliefs into mass murder–that something more is “evil.” This would not have been stopped with gun bans or gun restrictions. Criminal laws do not stop crime–they punish crime. He was set on killing these people–gun restrictions would not have stopped that. But even if they would have–this is not the time/place to pontificate on biased views of the second amendment.

And now we have an example of what social media has done to our way of thinking—Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s campaign posts a Bible verse every Sunday at 7:00 a.m. This Sunday it was from Galations and spoke of reaping what we sow. For anyone who does not know the context of that verse or why Paul was writing it to the Galation Church it could be seen as insensitive–that is if it was meant to be a commentary on what happened. But why wait to find out—instead a flood of internet comments have been made accusing the Lt. Governor of gay bashing. Interestingly, no one jumped to the conclusion that maybe he was talking about the shooter that was killed during the fray. Instead, it was assumed by many that he, as a Republican and a Christian, must have been spreading hate speech about the victims. Turns out it was neither.

Shame on everyone for jumping to any conclusion–or using the verse to mean something it didn’t mean. One post even said that his excuse that he was out of the Country and that this verse was selected Thursday and was automatically posted by the campaign was “BS.” I find it amazing that it is more believable to that person that he would intentionally state such a horrific and hateful thing aimed at accusing the victims of bringing this evil upon themselves. Really?? He is that stupid?

The New Testament is not a book of accusations, judgment or hate. It is a book that says–we have ALL fallen short of the glory of God. We are ALL sinners. We ALL need a Savior. It is a book that preaches love, grace, forgiveness, putting others ahead of yourself and hope. It is a book that shows that a thief on the day of his death and as his punishment is being given can turn to God and receive eternal life. It is NOT a book of hate or a book that preaches that you “get what you deserve.”

So let’s take a breath–Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has posted on his webpage an explanation of how/why that verse appeared on that day and what it means–I encourage you to read it. If you are so filled with hate toward Republicans and Christians that you just assume he is a liar–then I suppose you should just continue to believe that he meant to be insensitive and harsh. If you choose instead to forget your politics and biases and accept what he has to say, then maybe you can see that he was not making this tragedy into something other than what it was–we are by jumping to judgment.

I’m a Christian, Right-Wing Conservative that often votes Republican but I see myself as more of a Libertarian. With regard to this event, I see myself as a human being. I mourn for the loss of the families and loved-ones affected by this tragedy. I am sad that another human being could be so filled with evil and hate that he believed that killing innocent people was justified. I stand united with the LGBT community in denouncing this horrific and evil event. I stand with the LGBT community in prayer and mourning. I pray for comfort and understanding for everyone involved and I pray that events like this unite us instead of divide us. No one, regardless of beliefs, lifestyle, race, gender, occupation, age, or social position deserves to be murdered–period.

And please—can we all stop immediately believing everything we read on Facebook–instead let’s take a moment, look for the truth and employ some grace.

What The Republican Candidates Should Have Said…

September 30, 2011

I cannot take it anymore.  I have yet to make up my mind about which of these persons I would vote for in 2012.  I only know who I will not vote for.  Let’s be honest–the truth is that I would vote for a diseased cantaloupe carved into the shape of Miss Piggy before I would vote for Barack Obama.  That being said, I, like all conservatives, want the best candidate to win the primary–the one with the most conservative values, the integrity to lead our Country, the courage to make the tough budget choices that are necessary to get us back on track and the one who can most likely beat the current leader of the Free World.

It is clear from the debates thus far that these candidates are unprepared for the questions asked, would rather destroy each other than talk about how Obama is destroying our Country and have developed a number of irritating mantras.  I know I’m not a political insider, nor am I a speech writer—but here are my suggestions on how to handle certain topics in the coming debates.

1.  IMMIGRATION:  If one more candidate talks about how they are an immigrant or their parents were immigrants or they have immigrant friends or anything in that light, I may have to duct tape my head to keep it from exploding.  We know that the US is a Country of immigrants–we also know that Conservatives want people to obey the law and come here LEGALLY.  We also know that people here illegally should be punished just as any other law breaker is punished.  And yes, Governor Perry, I get it that the law here in Texas is meant to possibly address one piece of the problem.  I don’t agree with it–but here is the answer to the question:

“The United States Government has failed Texas and the rest of the Nation by essentially ignoring the problem of illegal immigration.  The Federal Government should have limited roles–but one of those roles is to protect our borders and this President has done nothing to ensure that our borders are safe.  As President I will equip our Federal Law enforcement agencies with whatever is needed to prosecute those found here illegally and force them to follow the law like American citizens are required to do.  I will meet with the leaders of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas and develop a plan with or without their cooperation to seal the Mexican border and demand that Mexico deal with its drug cartel and its border jumping problem.  I will make sure the world knows that America is a land of opportunity, open to all of those who would come here with the intent of following our laws or face the consequences if they don’t.  (and for you Gov. Perry I’d add)-As for the Texas law, this laws was drafted as a way to attempt to deal with the problem of children brought here by their law breaking parents.  It was a bill designed to afford those children, who have applied for citizenship, lived in Texas long enough to qualify, a chance to go to college at in-State rates.  Texans wouldn’t even have to think of devising such laws if the United States hadn’t failed us on this issue for so long.”

2.  SOCIAL SECURITY:  I do not care to hear anymore about what anyone “thinks” about social security or what “buzzwords” they have used to classify it.  I don’t want to hear about what Mitt’s book or Rick’s book or Ron Paul’s imaginary friend has said about it. Say this:

“Social Security has been broken for a long time.  Every election the candidates get in front of America and talk about how broken it is, how it will be bankrupt soon, how we have to fix it and blah, blah, blah.  No more.  The system isn’t broken because there is no system.  People paying into the alleged “system” now are simply funding those who are currently retired.  That is why it cannot work.  As life spans continue to increase and the Country continues to add people into the retirement age bracket, there is more and more money needed to fund it.  It was a good idea in principle but just like GM’s retirement plans that put the company on the ropes, it is a bad idea in practice.  So, what do we do?  We start treating it like an actual retirement plan.  We set up accounts for every American and allow them to either simply pay into the Government account or into a 401K type plan.  As for those who have already paid into it and those relying on it–we have to fund it.  If that means that we have to cut some of the money going to worthless agencies like the NEA or the EPA, then we cut there, but we take care of the problem we created by honoring our committment to those who have paid into the system, pull the band-aid off and start fresh from January 20, 2012 forward.”

3.  UNEMPLOYMENT:  Unemployment is the highest it has been since the Carter Administration.  Not really a surprise there since this President makes Carter seem competent.  Yes, Texas has been doing well–so stop attacking Rick Perry and minimizing his role in the Texas economy.  Mr. Santorum–stop being a jerk.  Stop talking about courage when you spend the entire debates attacking the front-runners.  It does not take courage to attack your opponents, it takes courage to tell us what you really stand for and why that is better than what we have.  Try this:

“Americans know that the only affect the Federal Government can have on job creation is to hinder it.  The Government does not make a product and sell it.  It takes money from products we sell and gives it away.  Not a strategy for a successful business.  As President I will clean house on government regulations and taxes designed to hinder job growth and stand in the way of job creation.  I will work with Congress to lower corporate taxes or eliminate them so that our companies can compete with the corporations around the globe.  I will not take President Obama’s route of reactionary policy by stopping all drilling because of an accident on one site.  If our Steel Industry or chemical Industry shut down every time a worker was injured, we would have no industry at all.  I will leave it to the States like Alaska to decide whether their land is fit for drilling and exploration instead of avoiding the issue to satisfy the narrow-mindedness of the extreme political left.  The best thing the United States Government can do for unemployment is to allow the American worker and company owner to get back to work.  After all, Americans know how to create jobs–they just need the government to get the hell out-of-the-way.”

There is more but I fell the duct tape slipping so I better stop for now and let the blood pressure come down.

One final word for Michelle Bachman.  Ms. Bachman:  I like your views on America.  I like your conservatism.  I understand your position on the HPV vaccination and I agree that Governor Perry was wrong–hilariously, he agrees he was wrong too.  Enough on that topic–let it go.  Get back to talking about you and how our current President is such a dope instead of harping over and over on a subject that simply is not that exciting any more.

Okay–now I’m done for tonight.

An Apology To My Grandkids

September 27, 2011

Last week I was traveling to Austin from Houston on Highway 71 and passed through Bastrop, Texas.  As you may know, a few weeks ago the scene in Bastrop was what you see above and 71 was closed.  As I passed through I could see burned landscape and numerous trees that were clearly dead from the heat around them as leaves were completely brown (and for you Northerners–that doesn’t happen in Texas until November).  I could smell through my air conditioning unit the distinct odor of ashes and burned wood.  It is an unbelievable tragedy.  The fact that “our” President waited so long to declare these areas a Federal Emergency is a sad commentary on his juvenile attitude towards Texas in general.  I pray for those who lost their homes (hundreds of them) and anyone who may have been injured in this horrific event.

As I drove through and smelled the burning remains of Bastrop County I wondered if Americans could smell the odor of burnt ash in other parts of the Country.  I wondered if the smell of burning money could be identified in our air emanating from Washington DC.

I imagine that this smell would be different from the burning wood smell.  Although it would clearly contain the scent of burning paper and ink, I imagine it would also have the smell of lost opportunities for the future generations of our Country.  I imagine it smells like the hope of going to college, owning a home, providing for your family and living in peaceful freedom all being burned to the ground.

Believe me, I wish I could attribute that smell to the Obama administration and liberal Democrats only–but it isn’t all their fault.  Sure, liberals believe (which is clear from Obama’s latest proposal) that money you and I earn doesn’t really belong to us.  Liberals believe that if you work 40-80 hours a week, save your money and provide for your family, you also have a duty to help the rest of society that refuses to do the same.  Further, and worse, liberals believe that money you earn should be given to the smarter, better Government to redistribute as it sees fit for the “betterment” of society.  After all–it is only “fair.”

But as I said, there is plenty of fault to go around for our current situation.  President George W. Bush, a person I have the utmost respect for, expanded entitlement programs during a time of war which took our deficit from a negative number to over $450 billion.  Most of the spending was military, but there was also the prescription drug program, expansion of Medicare and Medicaid among others.  Then there was the bailouts of 2008-which began with Bush and continued through Obama.

Obama on the other hand took a $450 billion deficit in 2008 and turned it into a $1.4 trillion deficit by the end of 2009.  For you math wizards, that is $990 billion in ONE YEAR.  It has spiraled out of control since then to a point now where our deficit is over $3.7 trillion and counting.   Smell it burning?

I credit the Tea Party for trying very hard since 2009 to bring this to the attention of Americans.  The problem is that many of us simply don’t care or don’t understand it.  Everyone lives in the moment.  Sure, you can still go to the store and afford milk and bread.  You can usually afford to fill up your car with gas.  Because of the sluggish economy the prices of many things have not gone up dramatically.  You can see a movie, purchase an IPhone and go about living YOUR life without really appreciating or worrying about a over-the-head concept such as National Deficits and National Debts.

But while we are living our quiet lives, the Country is on fire and not enough people are declaring a National Emergency.  It is amazing to realize that the fate of our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren currently resides in the hands of one president, 100 senators and 435 representatives.  536 people will determine whether or not our Grandkids live in a free Country.

Think I’m being overly dramatic?  Money may not buy happiness-but the lack of money results in enslavement.  The more the US takes from our pockets, the tighter the shackles are twisted on our necks and hands.    The more our deficit grows, the more the Government will need to pay for it.  The current administration has spent money it doesn’t have and is now asking for even more.

We have not done enough.  As citizens, voting is a primary way of voicing our opinions and our beliefs, but it is not enough.  We must be diligent in doing what we can NOW to stop the out of control fire burning away our future.

I want to take this opportunity to immortalize my apology to my kids and grandkids.  I am sorry that I did not do enough and that none of us did enough to stop our Government from destroying your Country.  I am sorry that your future has been harmed by the omissions of your grandfathers and grandmothers.  I am sorry that we were not bold enough to think beyond the present and act, as our founding fathers did, for the future of all Americans, both the present and the future generations to come.

I promise to try to do more in the coming months to dramatically change the current leadership in our Nation and put leaders in place that have integrity, that care about America, that care about Americans, that put duty and loyalty to the service of our Nation above personal desires and love of fame and power, and who will make the tough choices to end entitlements and wasteful agencies and departments in order to cut spending, reduce taxes and save our Nation.

I am fearful of our current Government.  I am fearful of what they can do and what they are willing to sacrifice in the quest for power and control.  A famous American once said this:

I promise to work to make the government fear the people again and stop the stench of burning money from the halls of Washington, D.C.  I pray we succeed.

To the reader–are you fearful, do you smell the fire–get involved to stop it.

Vote “NO” on Proposition [Fill in the Blank]!

October 27, 2010

I have no idea what “propositions” or “resolutions” or “amendments” are added to your ballot in your jurisdiction.  In Houston there are three propositions.  One is to add some sort of “untouchable” fund for road improvements–which contains a myriad of hidden taxing possibilities for the future.  One is to allow red light cameras to enforce red light laws.  I voted NO for all propositions and encourage you to do the same.  Here is my guide for when you should vote “no.”

1.  When the Proposition/Resolution/Amendment Allows for MORE Government Intrusion Into Your Life.

If the item you are voting on adds more regulation, more oversight, added enforcement, a new government office, commission, committee, or office–then vote “No.”  The Government is involved in our lives enough.  Unless we want to start calling this Country the United Socialist States we must stop allowing these laws to get passed under the radar on the bottom of a ballot in an election.  They are always worded so ridiculous also:

Vote For or Against the following:  “To allow the government the ability to help all of its citizens, especially nuns, drowning babies and little baby owls, to better accomplish the American dream by creating a simple nondescript office of officials who would willingly lay down their lives for the betterment of the community and will require the simplest of forms and applications to obtain such help.”

Um…..NO!

2.  When the Proposition/Resolution/Amendment Allows for the Creation of Some Fund or Account and Otherwise Erodes the Balance of Power or Checks and Balances Inherently Built Into Our Form of Government.

If the item you are voting for creates a new tax, a new fund, a new rainy day account, a new savings, a new set aside, or a deregulation of the government’s ability to generate such money by taking it from you or your business or your property—then vote “No.”  If the Government needs more money, maybe it can get it by ending its hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidy to NPR or some other worthless social enterprise instead of taking it from us.  Be aware of these provisions:

Vote For or Against the Following:  “To amend the State Constitution which was drafted by conservatives back in the dark ages who could not foresee the unbelievable greed and irresponsibility of liberal politicians who, for decades, have been taking public money and funneling it into programs that were created for the ultimate goal of “purchasing” votes in future elections.  The new amendment will allow your State to create a rainy day fund to set aside $1 gazillion from “current” funds to pay for such items as police, fireman, roads, bridges, and education.  And it will allow the State to pull such money from existing tax dollars or, in the unlikely event it is necessary, add a new tax to ensure this fund never dries up.”

Um…Vote NO!

3.  When the Proposition/Resolution/Amendment Adds a New Regulation to “Help” Us.

The last major category are those propositions that create a new law or regulation designed to help all of the poor idiots who cannot help themselves, otherwise known as the citizens of the United States.  Do not vote for these:

Vote For or Against the Following:  “A new law that will allow local and State and Government and World Government and Obama Secret Police to arrest or detain anyone that is doing anything stupid that they should otherwise not be doing.  This law is all-inclusive and incorporates the following:  eating sugary foods, driving late at night, screaming at a rude store clerk, smoking, watching horror movies, riding on an airplane when you have a cold, being offensive, having an opinion or simply disliking someone.”

Vote (for the love of humanity)–NO.

-But by all means–get out there and VOTE!  Unless you’re a liberal, then feel free to cash your entitlement check and stay home for the day–you’ve earned it.

ALERT:President Obama is Messing With College Football!!!!

October 18, 2010

Well it seems that Democrats running for office are first running away from President Obama.  Recent articles on poll numbers suggest that everytime the President campaigns for a candidate, his/her numbers either stay the same or fall.  It would appear that his ability to cheer on his own party is not making the crowd cheer with him.  Democrats were warned when they voted for Obamacare that the voters would not forget.  Democrats were warned when they took over GM, suggested that CEO’s should have a government imposed salary cap, that people should be forced to keep their house temperature above 74 degrees that the voters would not forget.

Democrats seem to have forgotten that the Constitution (although severely watered down) is still taught in school, that many people still believe that freedom is better than Government enslavement.  Democrats have forgotten that many people know that when the Government runs something, it is run into the ground.  We have all been to the DMV, we have stood in line to obtain vehicle registrations and passports and building permits and business licenses–we know how well the Government runs things.

But Mr. President–please for the love of all that I have left to enjoy-stay away from college football.   When the President speaks somewhere, his ability to turn a race into a loss is starting to become viral.  This weekend he planned to visit and did in fact visit the campus of Ohio State University.  He scheduled the speech on Sunday but look what the mere planning of his arrival did to the game on Saturday:

1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
 Ohio State 0 3 7 8 18
 Wisconsin 14 7 0 10 31

Ohio State was #1 in the Country and then the President announces a visit to the campus and then bam!

So PLEASE President Obama, I would like to ask that if you have any scheduled trips to visit the University of Texas at Austin that you cancel them immediately–Don’t Mess With Texas!

-Murphy

P.S. Psssst….President Obama–I hear that Texas A&M has a fabulous conference center and would warmly welcome a visit from you sometime around say…Thanksgiving.

“Democrats Gaining Ground” and Other Ridiculous Notions

October 5, 2010

Despite a report today on Gallup that Republicans will likely win big next month, despite weeks of poll numbers showing Democrats losing in numerous races across the Country in National, State and Local elections, despite all of that data and the common sense of every living person in the Nation, I was stunned to open my home page at msn.com this morning to find an article making the claim that Democrats are gaining ground in various polls.

Let’s review the tactics to win this election by the Democrats since March:

1.  Republican’s ideas are the same as Bush’s ideas and those are the “failed policies of the past.”

2.  Republicans are desperately trying to demonize the President because he is decisive and is bringing about change that is good for our Nation.

3.  Republicans are racists.

4. Republicans have given in to the fringe right of the Tea Party and want to take us back to the age of slavery, put women back in the home, outlaw abortion and feed their rich friends while stomping on the poor.

5.  Republicans are racists.

6.  The economy is Bush’s fault, who was a Republican, and but for Obama, we would be way worse off–like way, way.

7.  Republicans are elitists, bigots, homophobes and oh yeah, racists.

and now….

8.  Democrats are gaining ground and Fox News has been falsely hyping Republican victories, which are way over-exaggerated–like way, way.

This is the most amusing tactic yet.  Instead of telling America why Democrat philosophy is better for us than Republican philosophy, or telling us what their plan is for actually fixing the economy–they are simply trying to smoke screen the truth–yet again.  Unfortunately for Democrats, the truth is all to evident in this new information age with easy access to Rasmussen polls and Gallup polls online.  Sorry, Democrats, but you are still losing.

The idea that Democrats might actually not lose a tremendous number of incumbents in November is about as true as the following metaphorically similar statements (you may notice each of these came from the same person–can you guess who?):

1.  The Health Care Bill Will Not Increase The Deficit By One Dime. (thank goodness)

2.  The Healthcare Package Will Pay For Itself. (that’s cool–so it’s like installing better windows for your house–so that in say 500 years, you will have made up the cost in the tiny savings each month in your electric bill–okay, great)

3.  We Have Run Out of Places in The US to Drill For Oil.  (I figured all of those oil rigs in West Texas were just landscape art–I knew it)

4.  I Will Not Rest Until The BP Oil Spill Stops.  (I thought he looked really tired when he played golf those um, 7 times).

5. I Have Visited All 57 States.  (So, I called Continental Airlines and asked for their flight routes to the other 7 States and they said I was crazy–Thank Goodness they are merging with United–hopefully they have routes to those places.)

6. My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church. (I guess my church isn’t a Christian church after all–my heavens, what have I been worshiping!!!!????!!!)

Seriously!

Thank You Sarah Palin! I Apologize on Behalf of Those Who Won’t!

July 10, 2009

MICHAEL JACKSON, MICHAEL JACKSON, MICHAEL JACKSON

There, now I’ll probably get 1,000,000 hits to this article in the next 5 minutes.

As everyone is aware by now, Gov. Palin has announced her desire to leave the office of Governor of Alaska.  Since the moment she made this announcement I have been tortured by commentators discussing this matter with phrases like, “what does this mean?”  “If she can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,”  “this will help her run for President in 2012,” “this will kill her chances for President in 2012,” “she will likely run for Senator,” “maybe there is truth to the ethics violations.”  AAAAHHHH!!!

Republicans and Democrats–SHAME ON YOU!  Let’s review for a minute what has happened.  In the middle of the election process a doomed candidate for the Republican party chooses an actual real-life conservative to run with him on a “conservative” platform.  John McCain chooses Sarah Palin.  She is an instant overnight sensation.  The media begins by talking about how great she is and how she connects with “real” people.  (I guess McCain connected with the “fake” ones).

She begins to give enthusiastic and inspiring speechs talking about an America that we all love where Government stays out of our lives and taxes are lowered and spending is responsible.  She talks about protection for the unborn and gun ownership and entrepreneurship and living an American Dream free of bailouts and National Health Care.  She decimates Joe Biden in a debate despite being the more inexperienced politician.

She willingly and unselfishly gives of herself to the Republican Party in an effort to stop the Country’s slide into certain socialism.  She takes time away from her family and her life in Alaska to tour the Country–even beyond what the Party expected her to do.

And then…

The media, fearing that she might actually dethrone the Obamamessiah and vault McCain to victory begins an all-out assault.  They attack her non-Ivy league education, her lack of foreign policy experience, her comments about seeing Russia from the shore of Alaska, her daughter’s pregnancy, her folksy way of talking.  They call her stupid and ridiculous and cartoonish.  They unscrupulously and grotesquely go for her throat–why?  Because they knew and still know that she is dangerous.  The Democrats know that even if she never runs again, if she campaigns for others, she is a force to be reckoned with.  And so the assualts continue.

The election is over, but that is not enough, the media and the Democrats seek to put her under the ground.  The attacks continue.  Overpaid nuts like David Letterman attack her 14 year old daughter–and the media let’s it go.  But remember, when Obama said kids are “off the table” for attack during the campaign, the media said “you betcha.”

Then ridiculous ethics attacks from Democrats in Alaska surface making issues out of which office she may have given an interview.  And so…for whatever reason–which doesn’t matter by the way…she steps down.

Where are the Republicans?  Where is John McCain?  Where is anyone to defend her?  And now, commentator after commentator takes the few spare moments in between wiping the tears over Michael Jackson’s death to continue the assault.  She gave everything she could to the Republican Party–for who you ask?  For you and me.  Whatever you think of her, she believes in this Country, she believes in Freedom and she gave of herself in service to America–not because she loves John McCain or the Republicans but because she loves America.

So for those yellow-backed, myopic Republicans that don’t have the guts to say it–I apologize on their behalf for their foolish, insensitive behavior toward you and your family and their unwillingness to step up to your defense.  And as for me personally…

Thank you for your service to this Country so far and I hope and pray, that despite the wounds and the attacks, you will find a way to continue to serve us in the future.  But if you don’t, I understand and thank you for inspiring me and others to once again discover true conservative values and ideas.

Health Care Reform, Taxes on Chips, Bankers Salaries, Oh My!

May 14, 2009

socialism illustrated

ALERT!–ALL SATIRE HAS BEEN PUSHED ASIDE FOR THIS POST.

-That’s right, I have decided that I simply cannot make light of the ongoing barrage of socialistic filth that is coming down from Mount Olympus, er… Washington D.C.  Today I heard a report on how Congress is considering taxing soft drinks, sugary foods and chips.  Which by the way, discriminates against fat people–didn’t I do a post about this at one time…

(See https://mklasing.wordpress.com/2007/12/17/instead-of-taxing-babies-how-about-taxing-caprisun/)

Then I heard a report about how Congress wants to regulate how bankers get paid–even with banks that did not take any bailout money.  Then I hear about how Nancy Pelosi has guaranteed a health care reform bill by August.

After my head exploded and I picked up the pieces of my severed skull and taped it back together I realized something that I have been denying for the past 7 months.  I am really really mad.  Not just a little mad–but REALLY mad.

Since the election I have tried to be understanding and humble about the outcome.  I know that although 58 million people did not vote for Barack Obama, 60 million did and those 60 million are entitled to their reasons and feelings and this is a free country and blah, blah, blah, blah.

However, numerous people have told me recently that they voted for Mr. Obama because they “were afraid that McCain was just another Bush,” or “I had no idea he would take us this far to the left,” or “we just needed a change,” or “I gave the Republicans 8 years and they didn’t take care of things.”  And now I’m just mad.

I’m mad at the voters–I’m mad at you if you voted for Barack Obama.  I know it seems like sour grapes and all that–but here is a newsflash for you liberals–it is not about ME winning or ME getting my way in the election.  It is about what is best for our Country.  It’s about not allowing all of our freedoms and liberties to be sucked into the socialistic vaccum cleaner of the Democratic Party.

So I’m Mad at each person who voted for Mr. Obama.  And as the Country slides further into socialism YOU are to blame.  When my daughter is 80 and cannot get a hip replacement without a 6 month wait-YOU are to blame.  When unemployment hits 20% under the thumb of over taxation and regulation, YOU are to blame.  When our military can no longer defend our Nation because of the dismantling of our post 9/11 defenses put in place by the Bush administration-YOU are to blame.  When we slip from lone Superpower to being dependent on the good graces of Europe, China and Russia-YOU are to blame.

So today I’m mad–I’ll get over it I suppose.  I don’t mean any offense to any liberals out there (and I know how easy you take offense–at least I didn’t post a giant picture of a nativity scene) or any friends who voted for Obama.  After all, I’m confident you will rectify this situation in 2012–I just hope it won’t be too late.

Governor Rod Blagojevich Actions Not His Fault

Chicago-Well we finally have something other than the economy to discuss.  Rod Blagojevich.  For months now the FBi has been suspicious of this man because how many men at his age still have this much hair?

As Jon Stewart said last night on “The Daily Show”–what is written under there that he doesn’t want us to see?  Well, I for one think that we are all being a little too hard on Mr. Blagosdfkwe=whatever.  Although–he is no stranger to corruption discussions.  In 2005 he was investigated as part of a scheme to steer pension plans from the State to his large campaign contributors.  But as he said then–he knew nothing about that.

Then, of course there were those silly rumors that he was actually gay.  But that is just plain ridiculous.

The reality is, the Governor was not breaking the law.  Sure he is being charged with tons of crimes including bribery and corruption, but he is right that the “bleeping” Senate office left vacant President-Elect Obama is a “bleeping” important office and it shouldn’t be simply given away for “bleeping” free.  After all–the economy is in the tank and how can Illinois afford to have a Governor that cannot afford to feed his own family.  I mean look at the tiny house he lives in:

Pathetic.  Why I would rather sleep in a cardboard box–at least I would have my dignity.  Plus his salary is a little over a paltry $177K per year–not even “rich” under Obama’s standards.  It is such a shame–with the economy hurting and organized crime needing their payoffs in Chicago, even Oprah is stressed and laying on the weight again.

So are we to condemn this man–this friend of our new President, for a couple of poor decisions related to finances?

I say “No”–let’s look instead at the real problem.  Of course, there is the underlying issue of the “failed policies of the Bush administration” that is the cause of our financial woes (not the mortgage crises or unions or socialist policies of the left)–But the real problem–the root of all of our current angst and anxiety-

The root of all evil and the example of all things wrong with our society:

Yes, the BCS–it is clear that if we had a playoff system, or if UT was rightfully playing for the National Championship, then we would not have Governors of States like Illinois making such irrational decisions.  Clearly, this disruption in the natural order of things has caused poor Blogaofeviehsasdfasdthek  to not think clearly and to say things he must not mean.

So join with me in anticipating the Democrat response–blame Bush (obviously)–but let’s blame the real culprits–after all we do not live in a society where personal responsibility means anything–so in anticipating the need for a scapegoat–I offer the BCS…and of course, the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Straight Talk About The Straight Ticket

November 18, 2008

Thank you Democrat straight ticket voters.  Thanks for all you have done to help our society.  I understand you wanted “change” and you were willing to wear Go Obama stickers and chant and scream and faint whenever HE spoke—but in the process you forgot one little thing—your own laziness.

I’m sorry up front–I know accusing people of negative things is so out and calling people out on their choices is so last year–but in communities all over the Country where people yanked the straight ticket they ended up voting for many opportunists like the jolly man pictured above.

In so doing, many excellent district clerks, judges, tax assessors, school board members, mayors, sheriffs and other local republican politicians that were doing a great job for their communities were swept away by the tsunami of straight ticket votes.

Why vote straight ticket?  Laziness.  Very few people vote straight ticket because they have examined each candidate in each race and decided to vote all Republican or all Democrat.  I am about as right-wing as I can be and even I, yes I voted race by race.  If I did not know either candidate, I left it blank, and in 2 instances I actually voted for (gasp) a democrat!

I’ll never tell which ones–but trust me, I did.

So you don’t think there is any harm in straight ticket voting–the lever for the lazy?  Take the local case of Devon Anderson.

Devon is the current Criminal District Court Judge for the 177th Judicial District Court in Harris County, Texas (Houston for those of you in other states).  Devon was a long-time prosecutor and is a person untouchable integrity.  She has been an amazing Judge and has done wonderful things for our community.  I know of almost no lawyers from the DEFENSE BAR that dislike her.  She is fair, honest and tries her best to do the right thing in every case.  But, she was up this last term.  She was beat in a wave of straight ticket voting by Kevin Fine:

Mr. Fine said he’ll draw from his experiences as a cocaine addict who has been clean and sober for 10 years when presiding over felony cases.  “Every time I was coming down, I felt like the devil was reaching into my soul, stealing my heart,” he said of his days spent with drugs.  See Full Article.
As a side note–Judge Anderson is one of 4 judges who preside over the County’s Drug Courts.  Mr. Fine states, “I ran,” Fine said, “because I felt like I could help more people as a judge than I could one at a time as clients.”  (uh, no you didn’t—the local Dem party had a big meeting and asked for volunteers to run for every bench and you were one of many who said “sure”)
That is sooooooo great!  We want Judges in our Criminal System to “help people” because that is their role–oh no, wait, being an activist and community worker is actually not the goal or the job of a Judge–they are to rule on the law impartially.  Whoops–guess he didn’t know that.
There are so many more examples of this all over our Nation–but hey, maybe this is the “change” people were looking for.  Well congratulations lazy voters–you will get exactly what you asked for–major, heart wrenching, society altering “change.”
After all, straight ticket voting got us change before–remember 1976-1980?  Obama does:

Yea!  Gas lines, hostages, stagflation, high borrowing rates, unemployment—and former drug addicts presiding as Judges in a felony Drug Court–now that is some “change” we need.
Thanks again straight voters–your unintended brilliance is simply amazing.
