SHAME ON EVERYONE

June 14, 2016

I have tried to stay out of the Facebook nastiness that has been going on since this horrific event in Orlando–but I really cannot take it much more. When did we as a Country decide to take tragedy and make it about ourselves or about our agenda or about our politics? When between 9/11 and today did we decide as a Nation not to unite around those affected by evil and heartache? When did we depart from being the United States to a State of Everyone for Him/Herself? I am appalled at the Republicans, the Democrats, the Independents, and everyone else who has decided to make this about something other than what it is.

I guess it was Rahm Emanuel that said we should never let a crisis go to waste–how wrong he was. That kind of talk has done nothing but divide us and pit us against each other and ourselves. When tragedy, evil, catastrophe and calamity strikes—we must exhibit grace, understanding, assistance, prayer, love and hope–that is what makes us Americans, not tribes of people trying our best to show everyone else that our tribe is best.

What happened in Orlando was awful, horrific, and tragic. It was caused by evil, nothing less, nothing else. It was not caused by gun laws or liberals or conservatives. It was caused by the radicalization of religious ideals that have so warped an individual’s sense of right and wrong that he believed what he was doing was right. The only addendum to that explanation is that it takes something more to take religious beliefs into mass murder–that something more is “evil.” This would not have been stopped with gun bans or gun restrictions. Criminal laws do not stop crime–they punish crime. He was set on killing these people–gun restrictions would not have stopped that. But even if they would have–this is not the time/place to pontificate on biased views of the second amendment.

And now we have an example of what social media has done to our way of thinking—Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s campaign posts a Bible verse every Sunday at 7:00 a.m. This Sunday it was from Galations and spoke of reaping what we sow. For anyone who does not know the context of that verse or why Paul was writing it to the Galation Church it could be seen as insensitive–that is if it was meant to be a commentary on what happened. But why wait to find out—instead a flood of internet comments have been made accusing the Lt. Governor of gay bashing. Interestingly, no one jumped to the conclusion that maybe he was talking about the shooter that was killed during the fray. Instead, it was assumed by many that he, as a Republican and a Christian, must have been spreading hate speech about the victims. Turns out it was neither.

Shame on everyone for jumping to any conclusion–or using the verse to mean something it didn’t mean. One post even said that his excuse that he was out of the Country and that this verse was selected Thursday and was automatically posted by the campaign was “BS.” I find it amazing that it is more believable to that person that he would intentionally state such a horrific and hateful thing aimed at accusing the victims of bringing this evil upon themselves. Really?? He is that stupid?

The New Testament is not a book of accusations, judgment or hate. It is a book that says–we have ALL fallen short of the glory of God. We are ALL sinners. We ALL need a Savior. It is a book that preaches love, grace, forgiveness, putting others ahead of yourself and hope. It is a book that shows that a thief on the day of his death and as his punishment is being given can turn to God and receive eternal life. It is NOT a book of hate or a book that preaches that you “get what you deserve.”

So let’s take a breath–Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has posted on his webpage an explanation of how/why that verse appeared on that day and what it means–I encourage you to read it. If you are so filled with hate toward Republicans and Christians that you just assume he is a liar–then I suppose you should just continue to believe that he meant to be insensitive and harsh. If you choose instead to forget your politics and biases and accept what he has to say, then maybe you can see that he was not making this tragedy into something other than what it was–we are by jumping to judgment.

I’m a Christian, Right-Wing Conservative that often votes Republican but I see myself as more of a Libertarian. With regard to this event, I see myself as a human being. I mourn for the loss of the families and loved-ones affected by this tragedy. I am sad that another human being could be so filled with evil and hate that he believed that killing innocent people was justified. I stand united with the LGBT community in denouncing this horrific and evil event. I stand with the LGBT community in prayer and mourning. I pray for comfort and understanding for everyone involved and I pray that events like this unite us instead of divide us. No one, regardless of beliefs, lifestyle, race, gender, occupation, age, or social position deserves to be murdered–period.

And please—can we all stop immediately believing everything we read on Facebook–instead let’s take a moment, look for the truth and employ some grace.

The “Tolerant” Left

January 22, 2014

Gov Cuomo

I don’t want to be political today but I just can’t help it. Because I am a conservative, I have been wrongfully accused of being close-minded, intolerant, racist, sexist, etc… Not because of any specific act, but simply because I am conservative. It is the left’s typical talking points. Yet, Governor Cuomo of New York has stated, in his most left-wing tolerant tone, “extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault—weapon, anti-gay…have no place in the State of New York.” So let me reiterate for you Mr. Cuomo the way I actually think about these subjects instead of simply ignoring your idiotic comments:

Hardcore conservative

1. I am conservative. To me that means I believe in small government and the rights of the individual. I believe that people should be allowed the freedom to achieve individual success or failure on their own. I believe that individual responsibility is more important than preventative regulation. I believe that citizens can manage their lives better on their own than the government can manage it for them. I believe in a strong military and governmental fiscal responsibility. I believe that government entitlements create a citizenry of dependents who become less and less motivated to make their own way in the world. I believe that progress is not about what the government can do for our lives but about what people can do for themselves free of government interference.  I believe in a free market and an unrestricted exchange of ideas and speech.  Despite what you might think, I would fight to the death to preserve your right to make stupid comments about others.

pro-life

2.  I am unashamedly pro-life.  That means I believe that abortion in wrong.  I believe that a baby is a separate being from conception forward.  I am also very sympathetic to those who don’t intend to get pregnant, but do, but I believe in personal responsibility and that means that choices have consequences.  I believe the life of the mother is paramount and should be priority one in a rare situation where the pregnancy puts the mother at risk.  And do I stand firm on rape and incest cases (rare that they are)?  No–the honest truth is that although I think each baby becomes a baby through no fault of its own, I have a heart and would certainly not condemn a woman who made a tough decision in an extreme circumstance.  In fact, I condemn no one for the choices they make in this area–I simply believe a different way–a way that apparently is no longer tolerated in the entire State of New York.  Despite that, when given the opportunity, I’ll fight to change the law in this area–but again I’d fight to the death for you to be able to believe otherwise and express that  belief.

Gun Constitution

3.  I believe in the right to bear arms.  I believe that “gun control” is about control not about guns.  I believe that every society in history that became overtaken by a tyrant started with the removal of guns from the citizenry.  I believe that guns in the hands of bad people are a bad thing but that guns in the hands of good people are a danger to no one–except the bad people. (Charlton Heston).  I believe that ridiculous controls on the number of bullets you can put in a gun or the  number of guns you can own are infringements on  my freedoms and the freedoms of others.  I believe we could learn a lot from the Swiss on this issue.

4.  I don’t even know what you mean by “anti-gay.”  I do not believe in discrimination.  I do not believe that society should discriminate against people because of their relationship choices.  I also do not believe that relationship choices are a valid basis for creating a “protected class” of citizens.    I believe we have been created EQUALLY.  That word has a specific meaning that should not be manipulated.   I believe everyone is entitled to their moral beliefs and views on this subject and I believe that there is no constitutional right for either side of the argument to not be offended by the other’s viewpoint.   People that target aggression, discrimination and hateful actions towards someone because they are gay should suffer the criminal consequences of their actions.  Interestingly, though, taking Gov. Cuomo’s words on their face, if he means that people that personally object to the gay lifestyle should not live in New York, then he is no better than those that would harass someone simply because of their lifestyle.

I have been force-fed a mantra of talking points since the Clinton years that liberals are “tolerant,” “forgiving,” “accepting of others,” “open-minded,” and “compassionate.”  Likewise conservatives are accused of being the opposite.

Well Gov. Cuomo, by those definitions you are one heck of a conservative.  I’ve been to New York Governor, and it’s no Texas–you can keep it.

An Apology To My Grandkids

September 27, 2011

Last week I was traveling to Austin from Houston on Highway 71 and passed through Bastrop, Texas.  As you may know, a few weeks ago the scene in Bastrop was what you see above and 71 was closed.  As I passed through I could see burned landscape and numerous trees that were clearly dead from the heat around them as leaves were completely brown (and for you Northerners–that doesn’t happen in Texas until November).  I could smell through my air conditioning unit the distinct odor of ashes and burned wood.  It is an unbelievable tragedy.  The fact that “our” President waited so long to declare these areas a Federal Emergency is a sad commentary on his juvenile attitude towards Texas in general.  I pray for those who lost their homes (hundreds of them) and anyone who may have been injured in this horrific event.

As I drove through and smelled the burning remains of Bastrop County I wondered if Americans could smell the odor of burnt ash in other parts of the Country.  I wondered if the smell of burning money could be identified in our air emanating from Washington DC.

I imagine that this smell would be different from the burning wood smell.  Although it would clearly contain the scent of burning paper and ink, I imagine it would also have the smell of lost opportunities for the future generations of our Country.  I imagine it smells like the hope of going to college, owning a home, providing for your family and living in peaceful freedom all being burned to the ground.

Believe me, I wish I could attribute that smell to the Obama administration and liberal Democrats only–but it isn’t all their fault.  Sure, liberals believe (which is clear from Obama’s latest proposal) that money you and I earn doesn’t really belong to us.  Liberals believe that if you work 40-80 hours a week, save your money and provide for your family, you also have a duty to help the rest of society that refuses to do the same.  Further, and worse, liberals believe that money you earn should be given to the smarter, better Government to redistribute as it sees fit for the “betterment” of society.  After all–it is only “fair.”

But as I said, there is plenty of fault to go around for our current situation.  President George W. Bush, a person I have the utmost respect for, expanded entitlement programs during a time of war which took our deficit from a negative number to over $450 billion.  Most of the spending was military, but there was also the prescription drug program, expansion of Medicare and Medicaid among others.  Then there was the bailouts of 2008-which began with Bush and continued through Obama.

Obama on the other hand took a $450 billion deficit in 2008 and turned it into a $1.4 trillion deficit by the end of 2009.  For you math wizards, that is $990 billion in ONE YEAR.  It has spiraled out of control since then to a point now where our deficit is over $3.7 trillion and counting.   Smell it burning?

I credit the Tea Party for trying very hard since 2009 to bring this to the attention of Americans.  The problem is that many of us simply don’t care or don’t understand it.  Everyone lives in the moment.  Sure, you can still go to the store and afford milk and bread.  You can usually afford to fill up your car with gas.  Because of the sluggish economy the prices of many things have not gone up dramatically.  You can see a movie, purchase an IPhone and go about living YOUR life without really appreciating or worrying about a over-the-head concept such as National Deficits and National Debts.

But while we are living our quiet lives, the Country is on fire and not enough people are declaring a National Emergency.  It is amazing to realize that the fate of our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren currently resides in the hands of one president, 100 senators and 435 representatives.  536 people will determine whether or not our Grandkids live in a free Country.

Think I’m being overly dramatic?  Money may not buy happiness-but the lack of money results in enslavement.  The more the US takes from our pockets, the tighter the shackles are twisted on our necks and hands.    The more our deficit grows, the more the Government will need to pay for it.  The current administration has spent money it doesn’t have and is now asking for even more.

We have not done enough.  As citizens, voting is a primary way of voicing our opinions and our beliefs, but it is not enough.  We must be diligent in doing what we can NOW to stop the out of control fire burning away our future.

I want to take this opportunity to immortalize my apology to my kids and grandkids.  I am sorry that I did not do enough and that none of us did enough to stop our Government from destroying your Country.  I am sorry that your future has been harmed by the omissions of your grandfathers and grandmothers.  I am sorry that we were not bold enough to think beyond the present and act, as our founding fathers did, for the future of all Americans, both the present and the future generations to come.

I promise to try to do more in the coming months to dramatically change the current leadership in our Nation and put leaders in place that have integrity, that care about America, that care about Americans, that put duty and loyalty to the service of our Nation above personal desires and love of fame and power, and who will make the tough choices to end entitlements and wasteful agencies and departments in order to cut spending, reduce taxes and save our Nation.

I am fearful of our current Government.  I am fearful of what they can do and what they are willing to sacrifice in the quest for power and control.  A famous American once said this:

I promise to work to make the government fear the people again and stop the stench of burning money from the halls of Washington, D.C.  I pray we succeed.

To the reader–are you fearful, do you smell the fire–get involved to stop it.

What Does “Void” Mean? (Asks the Liberal Wacko)

February 18, 2011

I have to confess that life and work and life and work have taken over.  Not to mention I am on a committee at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where I sell Half-Priced Carnival Ticket packs from January to February 27 to raise money for the HLSR Scholarship fund.  And it has been KILLING me that I cannot sit down and blog.  So much is going on–the Middle East, defunding of Obamacare, Wisconsin Scaredocrats running and hiding, but this article sent me into full blown head explosion mode.

Today, our Federal Government, led by a man who himself has stated is “very smart” has asked the Florida Federal Court to clarify its ruling on the Health Care legislation.

The Justice department is asking the question.  Now who leads that department again?….

Ahhh yes, Eric Holder.  Mr. Holder, an attorney himself, seems to be confused about the meaning of the Ruling.  Let’s see if we here at MKCB can help the Justice Department.  Consider it pro bono legal work for our Bankrupt Federal Government.

The Ruling States in part:

“I must reluctantly conclude that Congress exceeded the bounds of its authority in passing the act with the individual mandate. That is not to say, of course, that Congress is without power to address the problems and inequities in our health care system. The health care market is more than one-sixth of the national economy, and without doubt Congress has the power to reform and regulate this market. That has not been disputed in this case. The principal dispute has been about how Congress chose to exercise that power here,” Vinson wrote.

“While the individual mandate was clearly ‘necessary and essential’ to the act as drafted, it is not ‘necessary and essential’ to health care reform in general,” he continued. “Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire act must be declared void.”

So let’s see if we can decipher this complex maze of words and phrases.   The Judge is reluctant to conclude something about the bounds of authority…okay…and then he says Congress can address the problems of the health care system…okay…and then something about 1/6 of something…and then he says that the individual mandate (which is the requirement that we all purchase health care insurance) is really really important to the way the legislation was written…okay…and then he says “THE ENTIRE ACT MUST BE DECLARED VOID.”

“Void”  what does that mean????  Does it mean that we can no longer call it “Obamacare” but we now have to call it “Void?”

Okay, let’s slow down.  What does “entire” mean?  According to Dictionary.com it means:  “having all the parts or elements; whole; complete; full or thorough; not broken, mutilated or decayed; intact; unimpaired or undiminished; being wholly of one piece; undivided; continuous; not gelded (an entire horse).”

Whew–for a second I thought it had something to do with those wheely things on your car.  So “entire” means the whole thing.  Okay so far.

What about “declared?”  It means:  “publicly avowed or professed; self-confessed.”  So, the whole act must be self-confessed or publicly avowed void?  That is weird.  I thought “declared” was like when you take the custard filling out of an eclair it has been “declared.”  I see how these guys are so confused.

Kind of like this guy:

But I digress…

So now we come to the real problem with this ruling.  The word “void.”  That means: “having no legal force or effect; not legally binding or enforceable.”  See that seems straight forward enough, but wait there’s more.  It also means: “useless, ineffectual; devoid; destitute; without contents; empty; without an incumbent; having no cards in a suit; empty space; something experienced as a loss or privation; a gap or opening in a wall; a vacancy; invalidate or nullify; discharge; to clear or empty contents; to urinate or defecate.”

Well, I think we can sum up the entire ruling based on this definition.

“The entire Act must be declared void” can be further clarified to mean, “the whole act is self-confessed poop.”

Don’t thank me Mr. Holder, I’m just doing my part as a patriotic American.

Christmas is Apparently About Obama and Oprah

December 7, 2010

Our President has tried his best to divert our attention away from the one item on the current agenda that all small businesses and 95% of Americans are concerned about–whether their taxes will increase or stay the same come January 1, 2011.  Our President has talked about the war in Afghanistan, the military “don’t ask don’t tell” policy, the fat content of school lunches–but has avoided this subject as much as possible.

He began by telling us that he would not extend the “failed policies of the past which put us in this position in the first place.”  Then he talked (right before the election) about maybe extending some of the tax cuts but certainly not the ones on the “rich.”  Then he began to change his definition of “rich.”  Now that the Senate has blocked the House version of extending some while not others, the Obama administration is saying that they will consider granting the peasants their wish this Christmas and extend all of the tax cuts as long as Congress also agrees to extend unemployment benefits

Well thank you Santa for granting our wish, albeit on YOUR terms.  After all, how silly of us, the stupid public, to forget that no idea is a good idea, unless it is an Obama idea.

But wait, there’s more…

After all, you know from the Democrats that society cannot think on its own–it needs the guidance and the direction of the Federal government in all aspects of its existence.  But the Government cannot do it all–so it has surrogates…Like Oprah Winfrey.

Thank Harpo we have  the annual “Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things 2010” so we can get the “RIGHT” Christmas present this year.  As the article says (and no, I’m not making this up) “And if Oprah likes ’em, it’s pretty much a given that those who receive these items will like them, too.”

Really?  So I suppose Christmas is really about Oprah?  What has she had to say about Christmas?

“Jesus cannot be the only way to heaven.”

“One of the mistakes that human beings make is believing that there is only one way to live, there are many paths to what you call God.”

However, what is clear is that there are not many paths to Christmas joy–there is one, Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things list.  Thank Harpo she is here to help us.

2010 Christmas Ideas From The Left: A Holly Nancy Pelosi Christmas!

November 24, 2010

Well as we arrive at Thanksgiving we stuff ourselves full of Turkey and Dressing and Cranberry Sauce and watch a little football and then wake up early to attack Black Friday.   We here at MKCB don’t want you to be out there looking around from store to store trying to find the perfect gift–we want to give you some fantastic ideas.  As you know, the left in our Country is about Hope and Change and all that is good.  Therefore, we have decided, in the Spirit of the Season, to list for you some wonderful gifts that will bring Hope and only cost a little Change.  Ho Ho Ho!

Top 5 Gift Ideas for 2010 From The Democratic Party of the Combined Union of States of America:

1.  Planned Parenthood Gift Cards

That’s right folks, surely you have that special someone on your list that, well, may need to rethink the next few months and shed that “mistake” that President Obama talked about in 2008.  Well, look no further than Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood says Give the Gift of Abortion for Christmas by Albert Milliron

Yes, its true, you can give the gift of “choice” to someone who is saving up for that special decision to put “self” before others.  And while you are there don’t forget to pick up a stylish “Choice on Earth” T-Shirt.

Planned Parenthood offers ‘Choice on Earth’ T-shirts

Ahhh, tis the season.

2.  Athiest T-Shirts

Obviously it is not fair that all of these leftist atheists are left out of the gift giving and receiving at Christmas time.  But what do you buy that special anti-God someone?  Well, how about a T-Shirt that says it all:

Atheist Christmas cards

Selfishness never goes out of style.  The website this came from makes cards and T-Shirts with this friendly “cute” saying.

3.  Anti-Palin Gear

It wouldn’t be Christmas without bashing a person without reason and by making comments about her personal life that simply aren’t true.  And what better person to continue to focus your character attacks that the person responsible for energizing a large portion of the right–Sarah Palin.

No worries, the Democrats have websites with fun stuff like this:

Offensive anti Palin Christmas T-Shirts

Wouldn’t you feel classy wearing this unique and clever T-Shirt to your next Holiday party?

4.  The Incredible Shrinking Dollar

Now here is a gift that Nancy Pelosi can really be proud of–after all she is in part responsible for manufacturing this wonderful item of joy.  Now you can give your loved ones that same joy with the “Incredible Shrinking Dollar”–and you don’t even have to loan billions of dollars to China to make it work.

5.  This Day in Revisionist History

Written by top Democratic operatives, er… I mean leaders, you can now give your kids the book they have all been waiting for–a history book that tells history the way it should have occurred, not the silly stupid way it actually happened.  In this book you will find tales of how the Republicans pushed for more slavery and caused the Civil War, you will hear about how the 80’s were a decade of greed and how President Reagan had nothing to do with the fall of Communism.  You will also get a special bonus section that details the hundreds of amazing successes of the Carter administration.  This is a history book your family is sure to treasure for years to come.

Have a great Black Friday (named by the Republicans who are racist by nature) and Merry Chri…um..Xmas!
