Christmas is Apparently About Obama and Oprah

December 7, 2010

Our President has tried his best to divert our attention away from the one item on the current agenda that all small businesses and 95% of Americans are concerned about–whether their taxes will increase or stay the same come January 1, 2011.  Our President has talked about the war in Afghanistan, the military “don’t ask don’t tell” policy, the fat content of school lunches–but has avoided this subject as much as possible.

He began by telling us that he would not extend the “failed policies of the past which put us in this position in the first place.”  Then he talked (right before the election) about maybe extending some of the tax cuts but certainly not the ones on the “rich.”  Then he began to change his definition of “rich.”  Now that the Senate has blocked the House version of extending some while not others, the Obama administration is saying that they will consider granting the peasants their wish this Christmas and extend all of the tax cuts as long as Congress also agrees to extend unemployment benefits

Well thank you Santa for granting our wish, albeit on YOUR terms.  After all, how silly of us, the stupid public, to forget that no idea is a good idea, unless it is an Obama idea.

But wait, there’s more…

After all, you know from the Democrats that society cannot think on its own–it needs the guidance and the direction of the Federal government in all aspects of its existence.  But the Government cannot do it all–so it has surrogates…Like Oprah Winfrey.

Thank Harpo we have  the annual “Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things 2010” so we can get the “RIGHT” Christmas present this year.  As the article says (and no, I’m not making this up) “And if Oprah likes ’em, it’s pretty much a given that those who receive these items will like them, too.”

Really?  So I suppose Christmas is really about Oprah?  What has she had to say about Christmas?

“Jesus cannot be the only way to heaven.”

“One of the mistakes that human beings make is believing that there is only one way to live, there are many paths to what you call God.”

However, what is clear is that there are not many paths to Christmas joy–there is one, Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things list.  Thank Harpo she is here to help us.

Vote “NO” on Proposition [Fill in the Blank]!

October 27, 2010

I have no idea what “propositions” or “resolutions” or “amendments” are added to your ballot in your jurisdiction.  In Houston there are three propositions.  One is to add some sort of “untouchable” fund for road improvements–which contains a myriad of hidden taxing possibilities for the future.  One is to allow red light cameras to enforce red light laws.  I voted NO for all propositions and encourage you to do the same.  Here is my guide for when you should vote “no.”

1.  When the Proposition/Resolution/Amendment Allows for MORE Government Intrusion Into Your Life.

If the item you are voting on adds more regulation, more oversight, added enforcement, a new government office, commission, committee, or office–then vote “No.”  The Government is involved in our lives enough.  Unless we want to start calling this Country the United Socialist States we must stop allowing these laws to get passed under the radar on the bottom of a ballot in an election.  They are always worded so ridiculous also:

Vote For or Against the following:  “To allow the government the ability to help all of its citizens, especially nuns, drowning babies and little baby owls, to better accomplish the American dream by creating a simple nondescript office of officials who would willingly lay down their lives for the betterment of the community and will require the simplest of forms and applications to obtain such help.”

Um…..NO!

2.  When the Proposition/Resolution/Amendment Allows for the Creation of Some Fund or Account and Otherwise Erodes the Balance of Power or Checks and Balances Inherently Built Into Our Form of Government.

If the item you are voting for creates a new tax, a new fund, a new rainy day account, a new savings, a new set aside, or a deregulation of the government’s ability to generate such money by taking it from you or your business or your property—then vote “No.”  If the Government needs more money, maybe it can get it by ending its hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidy to NPR or some other worthless social enterprise instead of taking it from us.  Be aware of these provisions:

Vote For or Against the Following:  “To amend the State Constitution which was drafted by conservatives back in the dark ages who could not foresee the unbelievable greed and irresponsibility of liberal politicians who, for decades, have been taking public money and funneling it into programs that were created for the ultimate goal of “purchasing” votes in future elections.  The new amendment will allow your State to create a rainy day fund to set aside $1 gazillion from “current” funds to pay for such items as police, fireman, roads, bridges, and education.  And it will allow the State to pull such money from existing tax dollars or, in the unlikely event it is necessary, add a new tax to ensure this fund never dries up.”

Um…Vote NO!

3.  When the Proposition/Resolution/Amendment Adds a New Regulation to “Help” Us.

The last major category are those propositions that create a new law or regulation designed to help all of the poor idiots who cannot help themselves, otherwise known as the citizens of the United States.  Do not vote for these:

Vote For or Against the Following:  “A new law that will allow local and State and Government and World Government and Obama Secret Police to arrest or detain anyone that is doing anything stupid that they should otherwise not be doing.  This law is all-inclusive and incorporates the following:  eating sugary foods, driving late at night, screaming at a rude store clerk, smoking, watching horror movies, riding on an airplane when you have a cold, being offensive, having an opinion or simply disliking someone.”

Vote (for the love of humanity)–NO.

-But by all means–get out there and VOTE!  Unless you’re a liberal, then feel free to cash your entitlement check and stay home for the day–you’ve earned it.

“Democrats Gaining Ground” and Other Ridiculous Notions

October 5, 2010

Despite a report today on Gallup that Republicans will likely win big next month, despite weeks of poll numbers showing Democrats losing in numerous races across the Country in National, State and Local elections, despite all of that data and the common sense of every living person in the Nation, I was stunned to open my home page at msn.com this morning to find an article making the claim that Democrats are gaining ground in various polls.

Let’s review the tactics to win this election by the Democrats since March:

1.  Republican’s ideas are the same as Bush’s ideas and those are the “failed policies of the past.”

2.  Republicans are desperately trying to demonize the President because he is decisive and is bringing about change that is good for our Nation.

3.  Republicans are racists.

4. Republicans have given in to the fringe right of the Tea Party and want to take us back to the age of slavery, put women back in the home, outlaw abortion and feed their rich friends while stomping on the poor.

5.  Republicans are racists.

6.  The economy is Bush’s fault, who was a Republican, and but for Obama, we would be way worse off–like way, way.

7.  Republicans are elitists, bigots, homophobes and oh yeah, racists.

and now….

8.  Democrats are gaining ground and Fox News has been falsely hyping Republican victories, which are way over-exaggerated–like way, way.

This is the most amusing tactic yet.  Instead of telling America why Democrat philosophy is better for us than Republican philosophy, or telling us what their plan is for actually fixing the economy–they are simply trying to smoke screen the truth–yet again.  Unfortunately for Democrats, the truth is all to evident in this new information age with easy access to Rasmussen polls and Gallup polls online.  Sorry, Democrats, but you are still losing.

The idea that Democrats might actually not lose a tremendous number of incumbents in November is about as true as the following metaphorically similar statements (you may notice each of these came from the same person–can you guess who?):

1.  The Health Care Bill Will Not Increase The Deficit By One Dime. (thank goodness)

2.  The Healthcare Package Will Pay For Itself. (that’s cool–so it’s like installing better windows for your house–so that in say 500 years, you will have made up the cost in the tiny savings each month in your electric bill–okay, great)

3.  We Have Run Out of Places in The US to Drill For Oil.  (I figured all of those oil rigs in West Texas were just landscape art–I knew it)

4.  I Will Not Rest Until The BP Oil Spill Stops.  (I thought he looked really tired when he played golf those um, 7 times).

5. I Have Visited All 57 States.  (So, I called Continental Airlines and asked for their flight routes to the other 7 States and they said I was crazy–Thank Goodness they are merging with United–hopefully they have routes to those places.)

6. My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church. (I guess my church isn’t a Christian church after all–my heavens, what have I been worshiping!!!!????!!!)

Seriously!

9/11-Never Forget (Repost from 2008)

September 11, 2010

I have heard recently discussions on talk radio about whether or not we should continue to spend time today remembering the tragedies or should we simply “move on.”  I’m no psychologist, but I don’t know how you ever “move on” from having thousands of innocent American murdered by individuals bent on destroying our entire Country and way of life.  I don’t know how you “move on” from seeing people jump 90+ stories to their death to avoid being burned alive.  I don’t know how you “move on” from watching a plane live on TV purposely crash into a skyscraper in our largest city during the beginning of a work day.  I don’t know how you “move on” from learning of the story of the brave passengers of United 93 and their suicidal attack on the terrorists that ultimately saved our Capitol Building from being destroyed.

From my 38 years of experience I have learned that “sticking your head in the sand” is an ineffective way of dealing with anything.  If I was the producer of a major network news station I would replay the video footage of the events on the evening news every 9/11 that I remain on this Earth to remind us that there is a purpose in having a strong military, that there is a purpose in having a national defense strategy, that there is a purpose in making sure we know something about the immigrants who come into our Country, that there are a large group of human beings whose religious beliefs dictate their desire to destroy our Country.  We can send dipolmats and politicians and Johnny Depp and Jimmy Carter to as many “peace talks” as will make us feel all warm and fuzzy but the reality of 9/11 is that we will always be the enemy to these people becuase we don’t have the same beliefs that they do and because we are allied with Israel (as we should be).

When I heard the replay of the news report this morning of the towers being hit I could not help but shed tears once again.  When I remember that day it reminds me that our brave men and women fighting in the middle east are fighting for a purpose.  We need allies and stability in that region.  They are not going to come from Iran, Syrian, Jordan, Yemen, UAE, Egypt, Turkey, or any other country that hates Israel.  So establishing a democracy in Iraq and establishing stability will hopefully avoid a future 9/11 or at least put it off for a very long time.

I hope you are remembering 9/11 today and I hope that you are proud to live in the best Country in the world.  The next time you want to just get in your car and drive to the lake, or the hills, or the mountains, or the beach and stop and eat at any of a million chioces and stay at any number of hotels, I hope then that you remember that freedom is something worth fighting for–and thank God we live in a free Country.

P.S.–It is not a coincidence that Osama bin Laden is mad at the Democrats for not stopping the war.  Democrats want to bring the troops home and so does Osama–I guess we know how he would vote in ’08 if he was here.

Obama Calls Bush Before Troop Speech: But why?

August 31, 2010

According to the New York Post, Obama made a call to former President George W. Bush today from Air Force One while heading to Ft. Bliss to address the troops regarding the Iraq troop withdrawal.  But why would he do this?

I suppose there are various reasons but let’s examine this a little more closely.

I.  Obama’s Catch 22

In today’s speech, Obama finds himself in quite the predicament.  On the one hand he has always said that Iraq was the “wrong war.”  Further, the troop surge, according to then Senator Obama was a huge mistake.  Don’t recall that–let’s take a listen.

But wait, there’s more…In February of this year VP Biden had this to say:

Ummm….wha?

So, how will Obama tell the tale today?  He can’t blast Bush without demeaning the troops objective and essentially admitting defeat.  He can’t praise the troops for winning the war because he thinks the war is wrong.  And so…what did he and President Bush talk about.

Well, we here at MKCB have tapped into the ultra-secret phone line aboard Air Force One to bring you this exclusive phone call–here is the transcript of what we are pretty sure we heard…

[ring, ring, ring]

Bush:  Former President Bush here, miss me yet?

BO:     Umm, heh, umm, no…but umm.. anyway, sorry to bother you at home Mr. Bush, President Barack Obama here, how are you today?

Bush:  [smirking] Well, Barry I kinda thought you might call today.  I’m out at the ranch clearing some trees in the back and remembered something about a self-imposed arbitrary deadline regarding troops that you mentioned last year and figured you would be calling.  What can I do for the American people today?

BO:  Well, as you know I’m giving a speech before Ft. Bliss today and my speech writers are having trouble deciding whether I should praise myself and my leadership in bringing an end to the war, blast you again as I always enjoy doing, mention the needless loss of life in pursuit of oil and your dad’s revenge or all three.  I’m kind of nervous about it [puff, puff] and thought I’d see what you thought.

Bush:  I’d like to say I’m honored, really I’d like to…but, well, it might be a good idea to praise the troops for what they have sacrificed and accomplished, thank them and their families for their sacrifice and service, remind the world that peace in this region of the middle east is vital to our interests, remind the world that a world with out Saddam Hussein is a better world and leave it at that.  But I’m just spitballin’ here.

BO:  Well, I knew this was a waste of time.  You and your right-wing rhetoric.  The problem is I have to find a way to demonize you and the Republicans, make the Democrats look good, appease the anti-military crowd and win over the troops.  And frankly, my speech writers went to Harvard and Columbia and they are just too stupid to figure this out.

Bush:  I’d like to say I really want to help ya, I’d really like to say that…but, well, if you are calling to let me know you are going to demonize me and call me stupid again, thanks for the heads up, but I don’t see the point of this call.

BO:  I guess I just needed to do this and leak it to the press so that they would think I was somehow being nice to you right before I blast you.  Truth is, every time I’m around the military I get scared.  I’m afraid they know how much I loathe them.

Bush:  [smirking] Ohhhh, I’m sure they don’t know.  You just go up there, be yourself, and I’m sure the typical results will follow.  Your poll numbers and the stock market will go down.  Heh, heh!  Just ribbin’ ya Barry–have a great speech.

BO:  Ummm, yeah, okay I guess I…

Veteran’s Day 2009-A Humble Word of Thanks

November 11, 2009

Veteran’s Day was originally Armistice Day–proclaimed by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson.  Congress passed a resolution in 1926 requesting another proclamation to observe November 11 and on May 13, 1938, Congress made November 11 a legal holiday, “to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day.’  In 1953 a civilian named Al King (a shoe store owner in Emporia, Kansas) began a campaign to turn Armistice Day into “all” Veterans’ Day.  With the help of his representative, Ed Rees, a bill was pushed through Congress and President Dwight Eisenhower fittingly signed it into law on May 26, 1954.  Ever since, its purpose has been to honor those who have served in our Military and to honor those still serving.

THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED:

To the brave men and women who have faithfully served our Nation bringing an end to WWII, bravely fighting a horrific fight in Korea and Vietnam to preserve freedom around the world, liberating Countries from dictatorships, preserving peace in the Middle East and standing strong against tyranny and communism, I humbly thank you for your service.  I thank you for doing a job many Americans cannot or will not.  I thank you for allowing me the freedom to raise my children in a society free of tyranny and oppression.  I thank you for shedding blood and tears in foreign lands and rarely and tragically sometimes here at home.

While the John Kerry’s and Code Pinks and Move-On.org’s and leftists here in America criticize your actions, mock your purposes and rant against your missions, you persevere and fight harder to protect the very freedoms those individuals exercise even when they exercise them in a manner that dishonors your service.  I am sorry that there are those who call themselves Americans that do not appreciate the sacrifice you have given.  I am sorry that there are those on American soil that are able to choose where they worship, where they study, where they eat, what they read, what they drive, where they go and what they do with little resistance from their government and yet fail to recognize that it is you that have preserved those freedoms they exercise.  I am sorry that there are those in our Government who seemingly refuse to recognize the victories you have obtained and the purposes you have served.  I am sorry for every single citizen that has not taken the time to thank you from the bottom of their heart.

I pray God’s richest blessings on your life for the tireless way in which you have stared adversity in the face and fought against it to protect all of us.  Thank you for your service.

THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SERVE:

To the brave men and women continuing to serve in our Military overseas and at home-thank you for your continued service.  Thank you for remaining faithful to our Nation and continuing the fight to preserve freedoms in the Middle East and to protect the world from terrorism.  Thank you for performing under intense and extreme circumstances and proudly wearing our flag into these important conflicts.

I am sorry that our President and your Commander is willing to play golf 24 times in a year but cannot make a decision to honor the request of the General to send more assistance to your fight.  I am sorry that our President and your Commander is worried more about whether he acknowledges some buddies at a conference than whether he acknowledges the brave soldiers who needlessly lost their lives at Ft. Hood.  I am sorry that we at home elected a man to your Commanding position that neither honors your service nor cares about your success.  But know this–the American people care and we pray for your safety and we recognize the great debt we owe you and your families for the sacrifices you are making and will make.  You are the heroes of my children and myself.  I realize fully that I am able to sit in this air-conditioned office high above the Houston streets and type these words without fear of arrest or persecution because of what you are doing.

I pray for your safety, your mission and your quick return home to your families and loved ones.  Thank you for your service!

“Consumer Option” vs. “Public Option” Redefines English Language

October 30, 2009

Our fearless leader of the House of Representatives has really outdone herself this time.  Today she produced a 1,900 page health care reform bill with no “public option.”  Errr…well…um I mean there is one it now called the “consumer option.”  Many of you know that she redefined the terms of this government takeover of our health care system a few days ago by simply “rebranding” the public option.  Now it doesn’t sound so darn socialismy (new word–just go with it).

But little did she know that she would start a revolution of the English Language.  Webster turned over in his grave this week as tens of tens of people rallied behind Madam Pelosi and took the lead to redefine many other areas of our language that just seemed a little well…negative.  So thank you Madam Speaker for your ingenuity, brilliance and trend-making abilities.  In conformity with rebranding the socialistic takeover of 1/6 of our economy from “Public” to “Consumer” here are a few more “rebranding” techniques currently in circulation:

1.  New Brand:  CHOCOLATE CAKE

CowPie.jpg image by triple789

Old Brand:  Cow Pie

2.  New Brand:  ART DECO

  Old Brand:  Toxic Mold

3.  New Brand:  STREET AFICIONADO

  Old Brand:  Homeless Person

4.  New Brand:  RELIGIOUS EXTROVERT

  Old Brand:  Terrorist

5.  New Brand:  MR. HOTTIE

Old Brand:  Satan, Prince of Darkness, The Evil One, etc…

and finally…

6.  New Brand:  CONSUMERISTS

Old Name:  Democrats, Socialists, Liberals, Jack…
