Quran: To Burn or Not To Burn—Is That The Question?

September 8, 2010

Am I the only person shocked at the MASS of news coverage this is getting?  I am sitting in an Airport in Charleston, West Virginia and I have had the unfortunate pleasure of watching CNN for an hour and I think that 58 minutes of that hour was spent covering this issue.  They have had “religious experts” on and other similarly-situated goof-balls talking about this scheduled event.  So after trying to ignore this story, I have been forced to consider its relevance and ask myself what I think about the idea of burning 200+ Qurans on 9/11.  And I gotta say it brought up a lot of other issues.

But let’s start with the first issue–Burn?  or Not Burn?   Personally, I think that burning Qurans is a savage-like form of protesting and is being done for no other reason than to incite anger in others.  That said, do I think he has the right to burn them?–You betcha.  Do I agree with this form of “protest” or “statement?”  No, but I must say that all of this talk on television and blogs about whether Pastor Jones should be prohibited from burning them makes me think of similar situations that were treated with much more tolerance.  And after all democrats, isn’t “tolerance” one of your favorite words?  Shouldn’t you be just as “tolerant” of this activity as say:

The burning of American Flags?

Why the Supreme Court in Texas vs. Johnson  in 1989 upheld every person’s constitutionaly protected right to burn American Flags.  When Congress tried to pass a law in protest of this decision making it illegal, the Supreme Court struck again and upheld its previous ruling.  Of course, the flag burning in Texas occurred at the 1984 Republican National Convention by people outside that were umm…not Republican.  Since then numerous bills have been proposed to the Constitution to make the burning of a flag illegal but alas, the bill can never seem to pass the Senate.

How about desecrating the Flag?  How about burning images of George W. Bush?  Those things are all things the left champions as “free speech.”  Isn’t burning a book, even a religious book, a form of “expression.” But wait…

What about prayer in schools?  Well of course that is offensive.

What about roadside crosses, “in God we Trust,”  creationism, Nativity scenes—-All of that is “offenisve” and there are movements to do away with such horrible icons of a predominantly Christian society.  And of course, we can’t have Bibles in Courtrooms–that is simply nuts.  These forms of expression are somehow different, they are, um…different because um….well….um…. they just are apparently.

I’m continually amazed at the onslaught against Christianity from people playing the “I’m offended” card when those same people are saying that burning a Quran is simply outrageous.  And so, here we are debating over and over whether Pastor Jones should be stopped.

Hillariously we are told by CNN that this pastor–of a church in, where is that again…Gainesville, Florida..That this pastor of a church of, how many people…oh yeah, 50, is causing an enormous amount of hatred, dissent and division in our society.

Really???  Could it be that our National Media is causing the division, hatred and dissent?  Could it be that but for CNN, MSNBC, FOX, CBS, ABC and NBC that this event would have largely gone unnoticed except in Gainesville, Florida?  So thank you media for causing the problem and then blaming Pastor Jones.

I have a brilliant idea–it is kind of radical.  Let’s remember the lives lost and sacrifices made on 9/11 in a different way.  Instead of causing a First Amendment battle which necessarily causes the left to become hypocritical–let’s do one or more of the following:

1.  Thank our servicemen and women everytime we see them for the incredible sacrifice they make and have made.

2.  Spend time in prayer for those families that lost loved ones 9 years ago.

3.  Never forget that the battle against terrorism is not won overnight and will need our patience, dilligence and resolve.

and for the love of all….

4.  Elect members of Congress and Presidents that respect and stand in awe of our Military and are willing to spend our tax money protecting our borders and strengthening our Armed Forces instead of taking over our domestic industry and creating billions of dollars of entitlement programs.

That would go a lot further than a burning pile of Quran embers outside of a small church in Florida.

Veteran’s Day 2009-A Humble Word of Thanks

November 11, 2009

Veteran’s Day was originally Armistice Day–proclaimed by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson.  Congress passed a resolution in 1926 requesting another proclamation to observe November 11 and on May 13, 1938, Congress made November 11 a legal holiday, “to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day.’  In 1953 a civilian named Al King (a shoe store owner in Emporia, Kansas) began a campaign to turn Armistice Day into “all” Veterans’ Day.  With the help of his representative, Ed Rees, a bill was pushed through Congress and President Dwight Eisenhower fittingly signed it into law on May 26, 1954.  Ever since, its purpose has been to honor those who have served in our Military and to honor those still serving.

THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED:

To the brave men and women who have faithfully served our Nation bringing an end to WWII, bravely fighting a horrific fight in Korea and Vietnam to preserve freedom around the world, liberating Countries from dictatorships, preserving peace in the Middle East and standing strong against tyranny and communism, I humbly thank you for your service.  I thank you for doing a job many Americans cannot or will not.  I thank you for allowing me the freedom to raise my children in a society free of tyranny and oppression.  I thank you for shedding blood and tears in foreign lands and rarely and tragically sometimes here at home.

While the John Kerry’s and Code Pinks and Move-On.org’s and leftists here in America criticize your actions, mock your purposes and rant against your missions, you persevere and fight harder to protect the very freedoms those individuals exercise even when they exercise them in a manner that dishonors your service.  I am sorry that there are those who call themselves Americans that do not appreciate the sacrifice you have given.  I am sorry that there are those on American soil that are able to choose where they worship, where they study, where they eat, what they read, what they drive, where they go and what they do with little resistance from their government and yet fail to recognize that it is you that have preserved those freedoms they exercise.  I am sorry that there are those in our Government who seemingly refuse to recognize the victories you have obtained and the purposes you have served.  I am sorry for every single citizen that has not taken the time to thank you from the bottom of their heart.

I pray God’s richest blessings on your life for the tireless way in which you have stared adversity in the face and fought against it to protect all of us.  Thank you for your service.

THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SERVE:

To the brave men and women continuing to serve in our Military overseas and at home-thank you for your continued service.  Thank you for remaining faithful to our Nation and continuing the fight to preserve freedoms in the Middle East and to protect the world from terrorism.  Thank you for performing under intense and extreme circumstances and proudly wearing our flag into these important conflicts.

I am sorry that our President and your Commander is willing to play golf 24 times in a year but cannot make a decision to honor the request of the General to send more assistance to your fight.  I am sorry that our President and your Commander is worried more about whether he acknowledges some buddies at a conference than whether he acknowledges the brave soldiers who needlessly lost their lives at Ft. Hood.  I am sorry that we at home elected a man to your Commanding position that neither honors your service nor cares about your success.  But know this–the American people care and we pray for your safety and we recognize the great debt we owe you and your families for the sacrifices you are making and will make.  You are the heroes of my children and myself.  I realize fully that I am able to sit in this air-conditioned office high above the Houston streets and type these words without fear of arrest or persecution because of what you are doing.

I pray for your safety, your mission and your quick return home to your families and loved ones.  Thank you for your service!

The Queen of Socialism Calls Dissenters “Un-American”

August 10, 2009

Apparently, shouting out your views against Health Care is Un-American.  That is what Nancy Pelosi states in her USA Today opinion article.  How is it that Ms. Pelosi can write an opinion article in USA Today supporting socialized medicine, but Republican congressmen are having trouble sending out fliers to their constituency because Ms. Pelosi won’t approve the language being used to tell the truth about this radical takeover of our health care industry?

Ms. Pelosi, (Lord help me I never thought I’d do THIS)-I suggest you take some advice from ….

(can I say it?)….

Hillary Clinton:

Sorry folks, I know that listening to that cackle will make asbestos melt, but I guess it doesn’t apply when people are against Democrats and their policies.  It apparently only applies when you are condemning George Bush.

One day I’ll get these silly rules straight.  I keep looking to the Constitution, but obviously the Rules are written somewhere else.

Why So Serious?

August 10, 2009

Socialism

This is a little frightening.  Apparently these posters are showing up in Los Angeles at random places and no one knows who is putting them up.

Funny thing is, this poster is too close to reality to be that funny or shocking.  This article is for all of you out there that agree with our President regarding Universal Health Care.  For weeks we have been hearing how Republicans and conservatives are just fear-mongering the public into believing that Obama’s “solution” to our Health Care “crisis” is a one-payer socialist system of Health Care.  How silly we are.  I mean–it’s not like Obama has ever said that it would be a replacement for private health insurance or that it would be a 15 or 20 year strategy to move towards a one-payer system.  I mean that is simply ludicrous.  After all, this Country “deserves a better class of” health care, and Obama is going to give it to us.  Or is he……

Okay there I go again pointing out that our President is a two-faced liar and has an agenda that he purposely hides behind.

Democrat:  Oh yeah, well George Bush was a liar too and we have to do something about Health Care because of all of these illegal er, I mean poor folks that cannot afford insurance.

(I am just anticipating the brilliant argument)–But wait maybe there is some truth in all of this, maybe the government running our Health Care will be better than private greedy industry running it.  I mean after all–the Government has shown even recently that it can run the cars for klunkers program so efficiently and we all know how well budgeted the US Post Office is.  I mean, who has ever had to wait in a long line for a passport?  And how about the IRS–that place runs like a well-oiled machine.  I think at last count they are only estimating about $15billion in taxes that will be wrongfully withheld–so that’s good.

And now—the Government is going to spend $550 million on private jets for congressmen and women.  So maybe those posters of Obama are not meant to be insulting.  Maybe they are accurate.  It was Heath Ledger as the Joker who said this:

Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just… do things.”

If he was being honest, can’t you just hear Obama saying the exact same thing?

P.S.  This post and all future posts about the administration will be sent to the following link:  flag@whitehouse.gov.  I just feel the Government should know about my “fishy” website.  I’m just being patriotic.

Thank You Sarah Palin! I Apologize on Behalf of Those Who Won’t!

July 10, 2009

MICHAEL JACKSON, MICHAEL JACKSON, MICHAEL JACKSON

There, now I’ll probably get 1,000,000 hits to this article in the next 5 minutes.

As everyone is aware by now, Gov. Palin has announced her desire to leave the office of Governor of Alaska.  Since the moment she made this announcement I have been tortured by commentators discussing this matter with phrases like, “what does this mean?”  “If she can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,”  “this will help her run for President in 2012,” “this will kill her chances for President in 2012,” “she will likely run for Senator,” “maybe there is truth to the ethics violations.”  AAAAHHHH!!!

Republicans and Democrats–SHAME ON YOU!  Let’s review for a minute what has happened.  In the middle of the election process a doomed candidate for the Republican party chooses an actual real-life conservative to run with him on a “conservative” platform.  John McCain chooses Sarah Palin.  She is an instant overnight sensation.  The media begins by talking about how great she is and how she connects with “real” people.  (I guess McCain connected with the “fake” ones).

She begins to give enthusiastic and inspiring speechs talking about an America that we all love where Government stays out of our lives and taxes are lowered and spending is responsible.  She talks about protection for the unborn and gun ownership and entrepreneurship and living an American Dream free of bailouts and National Health Care.  She decimates Joe Biden in a debate despite being the more inexperienced politician.

She willingly and unselfishly gives of herself to the Republican Party in an effort to stop the Country’s slide into certain socialism.  She takes time away from her family and her life in Alaska to tour the Country–even beyond what the Party expected her to do.

And then…

The media, fearing that she might actually dethrone the Obamamessiah and vault McCain to victory begins an all-out assault.  They attack her non-Ivy league education, her lack of foreign policy experience, her comments about seeing Russia from the shore of Alaska, her daughter’s pregnancy, her folksy way of talking.  They call her stupid and ridiculous and cartoonish.  They unscrupulously and grotesquely go for her throat–why?  Because they knew and still know that she is dangerous.  The Democrats know that even if she never runs again, if she campaigns for others, she is a force to be reckoned with.  And so the assualts continue.

The election is over, but that is not enough, the media and the Democrats seek to put her under the ground.  The attacks continue.  Overpaid nuts like David Letterman attack her 14 year old daughter–and the media let’s it go.  But remember, when Obama said kids are “off the table” for attack during the campaign, the media said “you betcha.”

Then ridiculous ethics attacks from Democrats in Alaska surface making issues out of which office she may have given an interview.  And so…for whatever reason–which doesn’t matter by the way…she steps down.

Where are the Republicans?  Where is John McCain?  Where is anyone to defend her?  And now, commentator after commentator takes the few spare moments in between wiping the tears over Michael Jackson’s death to continue the assault.  She gave everything she could to the Republican Party–for who you ask?  For you and me.  Whatever you think of her, she believes in this Country, she believes in Freedom and she gave of herself in service to America–not because she loves John McCain or the Republicans but because she loves America.

So for those yellow-backed, myopic Republicans that don’t have the guts to say it–I apologize on their behalf for their foolish, insensitive behavior toward you and your family and their unwillingness to step up to your defense.  And as for me personally…

Thank you for your service to this Country so far and I hope and pray, that despite the wounds and the attacks, you will find a way to continue to serve us in the future.  But if you don’t, I understand and thank you for inspiring me and others to once again discover true conservative values and ideas.

Diplomacy-The Art of Being An International Idiot

June 24, 2009

If I sit down with the leader of Iran, I will send him a strong message that Israel is our friend, that we will assist in their security and that we don’t find nuclear weapons acceptable…. That’s not going to be a propaganda coup for the president of Iran.”
Barack Obama-CNN/YouTube debate, July 23, 2007.

Well, Diplomacy always sounds so nice doesn’t it.  After all, unless you live in Texas like I do, going out and opening up a 6 pack of whup-butt on someone sounds so barbaric and juvenille.  It is the more educated and refined way of living when you sit down with your adversary and try and talk it out.

What our President has been trying to tell us since the campaign is that we need other Countries to like the U.S.  Maybe that is right, but some countries simply will not like us.  No amount of sitting down to say “no, no” is going to work.  Am I suggesting we need to go into every country, guns a-blazin’?  Of course not, but part of being a refined educated man like our President is not being a super giant idiot.

Here is a news flash to the President and to the USS John McCain:

NORTH KOREA HATES US!

Here are some of their propaganda posters, in case you are still not convinced:

“Death to US Imperialists!  Our sworn enemy!

North Korean Propaganda Poster: Bombing US Calital

“When provoking a war of aggression, we will hit back, starting with the US!

North Korean Propaganda Poster: US as dog barking

“Though the dog barks, the procession moves on!”

(and you know what North Korea thinks of dogs.)

So, Mr. President, I know you are really busy trying to socialize every aspect of our lives and place it under governmental control.  But take a moment from your busy schedule of facist activity and learn a lesson on how to deal with bullies from a master:

-Man do I miss him!

Your Constitutional Right To Not Be Offended

May 27, 2009

of⋅fend–verb (used with object)

1. to irritate, annoy, or anger; cause resentful displeasure in: Even the hint of prejudice offends me.
2. to affect (the sense, taste, etc.) disagreeably.
3. to violate or transgress (a criminal, religious, or moral law).
4. to hurt or cause pain to.
5. (in Biblical use) to cause to fall into sinful ways.

(source-Dictionary.com).  The United States Constitution has this pesky little area called The Bill of Rights.  Interestingly, during the Constitutional convention, many argued against drafting any of the first 10 amendments.  The thought was that if we actually delineate our rights, then we will limit ourselves to those rights and those alone.  They argued that we should have rights unlimited except by penal codes based on moral authority based on the 10 Commandments.  Ultimately, the argument won that we should have a list of rights so that those rights will be most definitely protected.

I have searched the Constitution and attempted to find this new right that has prevailed in our society for at least the last decade if not longer–The Right To Not Be Offended.  I just cannot find that dad gum right.

Nevertheless–it prevails.

Yesterday, Dallas local news ran a story about Debbie McLucas (one of my new heroes).  Ms. McLucas brought an American Flag to work at the Kindred Hospital in Mansfield in celebration of Memorial Day.  Ms. McLucas’ husband and two sons have served in our Armed Forces and her daughter is currently in Iraq.

To her shock and awe, her boss told her he was offended by the Flag and that she had to take it down!  Now, her boss is from Africa and was not born here.  So you can understand his feeling like his rights are being trampled on when he lives in America and has to stare at that hideous flag.  You can’t?

Well this makes sense doesn’t it?  I mean after all, the Supreme Court ruled in United States v. Eichman that burning the American Flag -is considered “symbolic speech” and is protected by the First Amendment.  So doesn’t it follow that simply hanging the Flag up in your office area at work would be offensive?  It doesn’t?

Well, I’m offended that you don’t get it so you should simply be removed from Internet access all together–your mere presence here is offensive to me.

Well, as long as we in society are going to allow rules at work and home and in public to be dictate by what offends each of us, I have a list of things that offend me and I would like them immediately removed from society.  If not, then I will be REALLY offended and may even have to file a lawsuit in Federal Court in some liberal place like Minnesota or Maine.

Here is my list:

1.   Physically Fit Men

I don’t look like this–and their mere presence in society is offensive–I want them fully clothed and off the beach-NOW!

2.  Democrat Congressmen..er… Congresspeople

They are elitist, they are voting in the most Socialistic agenda in our Nation’s history and I’m offended–deeply offended so they should all immediately resign.

3.  “Celebration”

If I go to one more wedding and hear this song I may actually go postal and wipe out the entire reception.  After hearing this song for 29 years, I have come to loathe it like beets.  And now, when I hear it, I’m simply offended–so I want every copy of it erased starting with this hideous video.

4.  Beets

Offensive, simply and plainly offensive–offensive color, shape, smell and especially taste.  I would like to see the complete eradication of all beets from our planet.

5.  Pro-Choice Rallies

and if that is not bad enough…

I think that speaks for itself.

6.  The View

Everyone pictured here is offensive.  Especially Joy-whose name is irony defined.  I’m mostly offended that four women can get paid gobs of money to sit around and talk about their personal views and gossip.  That is a job?  I’m offended–and I want it gone.

There’s more, but I really need to get to work–hey, you know what, having to work for money is offensive too.  I shouldn’t have to do that.  I think the Government ought to help me out–maybe it could take your tax dollars and give them to me–now that wouldn’t be offensive at all.
