Hillary and Bill Clinton Risk Mafia Style Retribution from Obama-Sort of.
I wish the primaries were in October, then we could be amused every single day for nearly another 10 months at the back and forth between Hillary/Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Bill’s constant involvement is nothing short of hillarious. He continues to say things that would otherwise be offensive, but for him–he gets a pass.
SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Bill Clinton, who carried Nevada in two general elections, urged voters Tuesday to buck labor endorsements for Sen. Barack Obama and support his wife in Saturday’s hotly contested presidential caucuses as the only Democratic candidate with the experience necessary to change the country. The former president trumpeted New York Sen. Hillary Clinton’s accomplishments while painting Obama as the “establishment” candidate who would bring only the “feeling of change.”
“One candidate says you should vote for me because I’ve not been involved at all in the struggles of the past and therefore we need to turn over a new leaf and (try) something absolutely new. And if you want the feeling of change, then that is the person you should support,” Clinton said in a 75-minute speech to about 300 people in a YMCA gymnasium.
“The other candidate says vote for me because I spent a lifetime making change, raising hopes and fulfilling dreams for other people,” he said about the former first lady…“You got to ask yourself, ‘Who is best equipped to bring about this change you are hoping for?” said Obama, who later campaigned in Fallon and Carson City. “I know how hard it is going to be to provide health care to every American. … to fix our schools or reduce poverty. I know because I fought these fights,” the former civil rights lawyer said…
“In this case the establishment organization is with him and the insurgents are with her,” Clinton said in his speech. He then asked for a show of hands from about 50 precinct captains in the audience and challenged them to stand up to the union’s leadership. “They think they’re better than you are at identifying and physically getting people to their caucus sites. And I bet they’re wrong,” he said to cheers…
Among the Democratic candidates remaining, Sen. Clinton is the only one “with a record of consistently passing important bills with the support of Republicans,” Bill Clinton said. “We cannot pass health care reform and we cannot pass energy reform without some Republican votes in the Senate,” he said. “When she was in the White House, she worked with Republicans to double the number of kids moving out of foster homes. She has always been able to do this.”…
“Hillary has an enormous amount of African American support and Barack Obama has a lot of white people for him,” he said in Sparks.
So Bill is telling Nevadians (?) that his wife “while in the White House” worked with Republicans. Was that before or after she accused them of being involved in a “vast right-wing conspiracy.” She moved kids out of foster homes???? How in the name of all did she do that–did they bunk with her in the Lincoln bedroom?
And what dreams has she fulfilled for me–yuck! If I start to think about that blood comes out of my eyes. She has raised hopes, however, hopes that she is so unelectable that a the Republican will surely win.
The best is when Bill says that Barack has “a lot of white people for him.” Nice Arkansas education there Bill. “A lot of white people??” He may as well have said, “And some crazy crackers are voting for Obama.” I don’t know why I’m continually surprised by what he says, after all–even he has admitted that he cannot tell the truth to journalists:
Bill Clinton had this to say in 2005 on his blog:
“It’s a strange thing, being a politician. When I was running for office journalists asked me what my favorite song was. I couldn’t tell them the truth. My favorite song is “Be my Baby” by the Ronettes. Obviously I couldn’t say that, because it’s too romantic. So I decided to say it was “Don’t stop thinking about Tomorrow” by Fleetwood Mac. “
Here is a guy who admits he HAD TO LIE about the most simple thing–his favorite song. And here he is talking about a “feeling of change” when his actual favorite song is “Be my Baby.”
Well, I know this must be frustrating for Obama–getting hit from both sides by two different people. But I have an idea of a way to get back at her–see what this guy did in PA:
A man who mailed a bloody cow’s head to his wife’s lover has been sentenced to probation and community service. Jason Michael Fife “understands that in a civilized society a person cannot send a severed cow’s head to anybody,” said his defense lawyer, Henry Hilles…
The victim received a package containing a cow’s head with a puncture wound in its skull on June 1, 2006. Police said Fife, 31, got the cow’s head from a butcher’s shop, claiming he wanted the dried skull for decoration. Instead, he mailed the head frozen, so as not to alert parcel carriers to the contents, police said. The box became bloody after sitting on the victim’s doorstep on a warm day…
“My client did step over the line here, but one can certainly understand his frustration, given that the victim was carrying on an affair with my client’s wife,” Hilles said…Fife and his wife, who have a young child, later reconciled, Hilles said.
(Okay PETA–this is not a real picture so calm down.)
You have to love lawyers–he says his client “understands that in a civilized society a person cannot send a severed cow’s head to anybody.” That is the best quote yet of the new year. First of all–I don’t think he does understand that–obviously. I suppose in an uncivilized society–severed cow’s heads are fairly commonplace. Then he says that his client stepped over the line, but that certainly we can understand his frustration. Yes, we can understand it–what we cannot understand is what he was hoping to accomplish with a severed cow’s head.
Nevertheless, I think this would be perfect for Obama to send to Hillary to send a message. One-that they are not acting like they are going to lead a civilized society and two-that he is frustrated.
Please expect the lawyers’ quote to appear in multiple posts in the future modified to say:
“I think we all understand that in a civilized society a person cannot send a severed cow’s head to anybody.”
