Nobel Peace Prize Has Been Gored! What Am I Missing?
As everyone knows by now, Al Gore split the Nobel Peace Prize for his “groundbreaking” efforts at letting us all know that the World may be .7 degrees hotter today than some other time in history or something like that.
I want to make this short and sweet: What in the name of Heaven is wrong with this World? Let’s review the purpose of the Nobel Peace Prize–taken from our friends at Wikipedia:
The Nobel Peace Prize (Swedish and Norwegian: Nobels fredspris) is the name of one of five Nobel Prizes bequeathed by the Swedish industrialist and inventor Alfred Nobel. According to Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses”.
So let’s see, Al Gore I suppose has done work for fraternity between the nations by trying to scare each nation equally into believing that we are going to wake up one day to find Satan at our front lawn because its hotter there than where he normally lives. Okay I see it.
For the abolition or reduction of standing armies–hmmmmm…I got nothing on this one.
For the holding and promotion of peace congresses–hmmmmm…again—nothing.
Seems to me that Al Gore’s better work was inventing the Internet–after all it is what allows me to drone on and on about him winning the Peace Prize for a work of fiction. Plus that heart warming speech about his sister and lung cancer–that was something to behold. And how about his ability to see all sides of an issue, like when he spoke at the National Right To Life Conference and then later said he was “pro-choice.” What a humanitarian! I know that giving it to him was completely political—but seriously– In the UK last week a Judge ruled the following:
A judge on Wednesday ruled that Al Gore’s award winning climate change documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” should only be shown in schools with guidance notes to prevent political indoctrination. High Court judge Michael Burton’s decision follows legal action brought by a father of two last month claiming the former US vice-president’s film contained “serious scientific inaccuracies, political propaganda and sentimental mush”. Stewart Dimmock wanted to block the government’s pledge to send more than 3,500 secondary schools in England and Wales a DVD of the documentary to demonstrate the need to fight global warming. Judge Burton said the Oscar-winning film should be accompanied by government guidance notes and to distribute it without them would breach education laws prohibiting the promotion of unbalanced political viewpoints.
Sorry Democrats–that was in the UK, not some Republican appointed Judge over here. There is so much to say here-but I can’t because I’m sweating too much. Even the Peace Prize has sold out to poltical pressure from the Left–Maybe Al was right–it certainly appears that Armegeddon is right around the corner.
